When a growing business in Bolton moved into a new, larger unit, they faced a familiar office dilemma: how to divide an open space into separate work areas without knocking down walls. Discover how we transformed a blank workplace into a contemporary glass partition office, Bolton-based.
Our client was in a lucky position – business was booming and expanding, so they were moving into a bigger unit. But an empty workplace isn’t an office. They needed to create clearly defined zones based on their working needs; spaces for private work, team huddles and client meetings, without turning the place into a maze of walls.
Sure, open-plan offices might be the current trend, but in this space, it just wasn’t practical. The team needed areas that offered focus when required, while still feeling light, airy and connected – all those benefits that open plan offers. Plus, they wanted their workplace to look sharp. Modern, polished and professional – not a cold, corporate box.
That’s where we came in. We’ve been installing glass partitioning long enough to know that a blank unit is like a canvas. It’s about knowing where to put the lines and where to leave the light. Our task was to guide the client through every stage, from layout planning to specifying the right glazed partitions, ensuring the final space supported both current needs and any more future growth.
To scope out the workspace, our surveyor got to work with a technical survey. This assessed the space and how people actually move, meet and work in the available areas. From this, we advised our client on the best locations for their new glass offices and glass meeting rooms, ensuring the layout made sense for the premises and the team’s day-to-day flow.
The client wanted something more sophisticated than your standard glass walls, so we suggested a banded glass partition style. This popular system uses black lines or frames that are installed across the glass panels, adding structure, definition and separating zones without chopping the office into dark, boxed-in rooms. The effect is subtle yet striking – you get that modern, industrial edge without losing natural light.
Some of the benefits the space saw included:
We also specified acoustic glass office partitions in key work areas. This glass is a premium option, engineered to reduce sound transfer between rooms. That means meetings and calls can happen without drifting across the office. Staff can focus, client calls remain private and the office maintains a calm, professional environment even during peak hours. In a busy workplace, an acoustic glass partition is an investment that makes a big difference.
With the layout and glazed systems decided, we then set to work installing four private glass offices. Each room works on its own but still connects visually, thanks to the transparency of the panels. The banded design adds character, whilst the acoustic glass ensures the space actually works for day-to-day business.
This glass partitioning installation in Bolton is a great example of how you can turn a blank unit into a modern, effective workplace. Flexible, stylish and full of light, it proves that glass partitioning can make a huge difference. From maximising natural light to dividing functional zones, this project highlights how our glass walls can improve both staff experience and client perception.
