The Brief
If you work in sales, you’ll have heard this one before. Constant calls, sensitive information on screens and a continual buzz of activity make it tricky to stay focused and maintain privacy. Add in a busy office environment, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for distraction.
It’s something our client in Canterbury was facing themselves. They needed a dedicated office space for their sales team. A space where calls could happen confidently and sensitive work could be completed without breaking confidentiality. At the same time, they wanted this space to still feel connected to the wider office, so staff didn’t feel cut off whilst they were maintaining productivity.
In this workplace, the office is surrounded by beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows along the edges of the premises. This means there was light. Lots of it. We all know the benefits associated with natural light – improved mood, focus and productivity, to name a few – so any solution had to preserve this brightness while adding the necessary privacy and acoustic separation. Naturally, our clients turned to our glass experts for help.
Key considerations for this project include:
- Creating a space for focus – The office needed an area where the sales team could complete their work to a high standard, concentrating on tasks and calls without distractions. It was important that the space felt functional and supportive for everyday use.
- Maximising natural light – Natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows was a key feature to maintain productivity and a positive atmosphere. The partitioning solution needed to complement the office’s current openness, rather than block it.
- Protecting sensitive information – Screens and documents needed to be shielded from anyone walking past. This was particularly important in a high-traffic office where customer information is constantly handled.
- Quick, non-disruptive installation – The installation needed to be quick, easy and delivered on schedule to minimise downtime.
With the brief clearly outlined, we were ready to get to work.
The Solution
To create a dedicated space for the sales team, we installed high quality glass partitioning at the far end of the office. This formed a functional area without eating into the rest of the open-plan office. The placement ensured natural light from the perimeter windows also continued to flood the office, keeping the environment bright and energising for the whole team.
With the nature of their work, acoustics were an important factor in this project. We framed a glass door to help contain sound by sealing the gaps around the edges of the glass panel. This framing acts as an acoustic buffer, preventing conversations and phone calls from travelling outside the partitioned office. It’s a smart way to reduce the level of noise transfer between the new office and the wider workplace. It means staff can make calls or focus on sensitive tasks without distractions, while the rest of the office continues to operate as usual.

For an extra layer of privacy, a frosted band was applied across the glass panels. This is a type of manifestation that obscures vision into the office without compromising natural light. It’s a clever way to maintain confidentiality while keeping the space open and connected.
As glass experts, we ensured the installation was quick, precise and minimally disruptive. The private glass partitions were manufactured off-site, arriving ready to install. This meant our team could fit everything efficiently without interrupting the sales team’s workflow.
The result is a modern workplace where focus and collaboration coexist. Staff can make calls, handle sensitive information and work efficiently, all within a bright and connected environment. It’s proof that with the right glass partitioning, you can create privacy without sacrificing style.
